A History of Nephrology at KCMH
1964 Introduced modern hemodialysis service (innovated by Professor Kolff).
1972 The first kidney transplantation in Thailand was performed.
1986 The continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) was introduced.
1991 The first Continuous venovenous hemodialysis (CVVH) care for the critically illpatient was provided.
1998 In June, the first kidney transplantation between the married couple wasperformed.
1999 In July, the biocompatible blood group kidney transplantation was performed.
1999 Vascular access blood flow monitoring was provided for all hemodialysis patients. A four-month-course for dialysis physician was proposed.
2001 Double high-flux hemodialysis technique was initiated.
2003 Online hemodiafiltration was performed in all hemodialysis patients.
2004 The first Molecular Absorbent Recirculating System (MARS) in Thailand wasdelivered.
2005 Established Center of Water quality and endotoxin level measurement
2005 The first Single Pass Albumin Dialysis (SPAD) in Thailand was conducted.
2009 The first ABO-incompatible kidney transplantation in Thailand was successfullyperformed.
2018 The Nephrology Unit, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, was accredited as Kidney Disease Specific Certification by the Health Care Accredited Institute
